Streaming MediaStreaming media is a technology used for playing audio and video files (either live or pre-recored) via the Internet. Digital audio and video files are stored on a streaming media server. Once retrieved, the file is delivered to multiple users, on-demand in real-time; versus waiting for the large file to download and take up space on the server. George Mason University supports Microsoft/Windows Media streaming media tools, such as Windows Media Encoder, Streaming Media Server and Microsoft Producer. To get started using streaming technologies, fill out the Streaming Media Project Application Form and/or attend a Streaming Media Overview Workshop or request a consultation. The Streaming Media Policies explains how GMU faculty and staff can obtain streaming media accounts and what support is available. Please direct any questions to jouellet@gmu.edu .
