Q. Where are you located? A. We are located at the state-of-the-art Innovation Hall facility, 4th floor, room 427. Q. I wish to reserve equipment, how can I do that? A. The current procedure to reserve equipment is to send an e-mail to irc@gmu.edu with a full explanation of what the equipment will be used for and the date and hours needed. Q. I am teaching a course for the upcoming semester and need a WebCT account. A. For faculty use of WebCT, please completely fill out the form at http://www.irc.gmu.edu/coursetools/webct/courserequest.cfm Q. I just proctored an exam and need them graded, do you have any means of grading them? A. Yes, we have Parscore compatible Scantron machines that take

And we have a TSM, Stand-Alone Test Scoring Machine. Q. Are there any prerequisites if I need to copy material using your facility? A. Yes, you are required to have a signed and stamped Copyright Form approved by the Copyright Center for copying any material that is copyrighted. Please check with the Copyright Office’s webpage at http://library.gmu.edu/copyright/index.html for further information or visit them at Johnson Center 117 & 119. Q. I have some media I need to copy; do you have the hardware to support it? A. Yes, for large amounts of data or movies we have two DVD Burners, CD-RW/R’s, and 2 VCR stations with DV tape capacity. For text and images inside books we have two flatbed scanners and a form-feeder with compatibility to Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop. IMPORTANT: Please read previous Question. You must have a completed, signed, and approved Copyright form to use our facility for copying media. Q. Do you offer workshops? How much do they cost? Who may register? A. Yes, we offer a plethora of workshops ranging from topics such as
PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, as well as WebCT. Please check our

as to what workshops are held and at what date. Q. I am a student working on a class project; may I use your lab? A. No, unfortunately our lab is strictly for faculty and staff, graduate students serving as teaching assistants, or students participating in the Technology Assistance Program. We do not have the capacity to support the entire student population at GMU. Please use the various student labs in Science & Tech I, Johnson Center 3rd floor, Robinson Hall A, or West building. For assistance with any student projects using technology, please visit STAR lab at Johnson Center Room 229. If you are a student serving as a student aid and need our facility for the purpose of a project related to that faculty member, please have that faculty member contact us through irc@gmu.edu or call us at 703.993.3141 Q. I am a student who needs my password reset for WebCT, how may I request this? A. You may reset your password at the following web address: http://mail.gmu.edu. Q. I am trying to register for your workshops but it keeps telling me that I need an IT account, how do I get an account? A. Please visit http://ittraining.gmu.edu/membership.cfm to check to see if your account already exists or to sign up for a new one. Once you have registered for an IT Training account, you may then register for any of the classes. Q. I am working on an extensive project and need to come back multiple times. May I leave my data on your computer or on your servers? A. No, our computer’s temp directories are wiped clean every evening and our server space is limited through strict guidelines. Please bring with you a blank floppy disk, blank CD-R/RW, or blank Zip disk (100 and 250) so that you may copy your material to take with you. We are NOT responsible for any lost data on our machines. Q. Do you sell blank CDs or Zip disks? A. No, our blank media is only there for emergency use. Please visit the Patriot computer store located at the Johnson Center. Q. I have a website that needs to be updated and a database that needs to be maintained, but I don’t have the time. Is there anyone there that can do this for me? A. No, our lab and facility are for training purposes only. Our Lab Assistants and Senior Staff may only help guide you through any questions you may have regarding any of the software packages on our machines. At no point during your session with a Lab Assistant are they to take control of the mouse to do any work for you. Q. What are your hours? Do they change during the year? A. Yes, we run regular hours from 10 AM to 7 PM during the school semesters and run limited hours during winter and summer breaks.
