Requirements:
- Classweb Web Server Account
- Email classweb@gmu.edu and request an account. This server is intended
for instructional materials.
- WS_FTP installed on your
computer - to download a copy of this tool to your computer, click
here ftp://mason.gmu.edu/support/www/ws_ftp/ws_ftple.exe,
save the file to your local drive and then install the application.
- Internet connection

Definitions:
The words Directory
and Folder mean the same thing. It is a way of managing
and storing files.
Steps:
1. Launch WS_FTP
2. Click the New button
to set up a new profile for the Mason Cluster/Classweb
3. In the Profile Name field
- enter something like GMU-classweb so you can identify it later. Use
whatever makes sence to you.
4. For Host Name/Address
- enter mason.gmu.edu
5. For Host Type - leave
it as automatic detect
6. For User ID - enter masonusername
(replace "masonusername"
with your username. This is the first part of your email address.
For example, username@gmu.edu).
In the "Password" entry
box type the password you use when using telnet to either set up your
public_html web directory or when you are using Pine to see email.
7. Then, click on the tab
at the top of the screen labeled Startup. Type the following
path into the Initial Remote Host Directory field:
/usr/local/classweb/classwebfoldername
(replace "classwebfoldername"
with the folder name you requested. If you did not request a folder
name, it should be your mason username.)
Click apply.
8. Click on OK. If you are
asked to enter your password again, don't worry, just enter it again.
10. Transfer your pages appropriately.
11. To view your website,
start up your browser and enter the following URL:
http://classweb.gmu.edu/classwebfoldername
