Scanning Slides and negatives with HP Scanjet 7400c

The HP ScanJet 7400c can be used for scanning slides or negatives. There is even a special adapter used to project light though the film (the APX adaptor). Below are instructions for scanning slides and negatives. All equipments have labels attatched to them.


Scanning Slides or Negatives

 

To scan slides or negatives:

 

1. Open HP PrecisionScan Pro:
  Start > Program > HP ScanJet Software
  > HP PrecisionScan Pro

 

2. From the main menu choose:
  SCAN > XPA (Slides), to scan slides.
  SCAN > XPA (Negatives), to scan negatives.

3. Place the XPA Template on the scan bed with the label side facing up.

4. Insert the smaller slide/negative template into the cut-out at the center, labeled side up.

5. Place the slides or negatives into the corresponding slots on the template.
Make sure that the front side of the slides or negatives are facing up.

6. Place the XPA adapter on top.

7. Then follow the Guided Steps provided on the blue panel on the left side of the window. If the Guided Steps are not displayed go to the menu bar and select:  View > Guided Steps
