Scanning
and Saving Files

1. Open Adobe Photoshop 6 from the Start Menu.

2. Once Adobe Photoshop 6 is open, prepare your document for scanning. Make sure the document is as flat as possible to ensure proper scanning. Place document face down on the scanner glass. Make sure your document is flush with the top-right corner. Close the scanner lid slowly over the document to ensure your document stays in place.
3. From Adobe Photoshop 6, goto File -> Import
-> HP PrecisionScan Pro.

4. The HP PrecisionScan Pro software will now open and begin
a preview scan. This is a fast scan with less detail of your document. This
is a preview of what your document will look like.

5. Use the 'handles' to select the area which you desire. All contents within this box will end up in your final scan. Note: Hold down the shift key in order to maintain the same selected ratio as before.
6. After you have the desired area selected, goto Scan
-> Return to Photoshop. This will begin the final scan of your document
and take the image itno Adobe Photoshop 6 for editing and saving.

7. After the Scanner has completed it's final scan, your document will be in image format in Adobe Photoshop 6. Edit your image as you desire.
8. When you are happy with the final outcome fo your document,
please save your file. Goto File -> Save. The Save dialogue
box will appear. Here you will name the file, and save it as whatever file format
you need. Note: Most images for the Web will be saved as .GIF or .JPG. Other
typically used formats include .PSD, .BMP, and .TIF.
